The image I picked is of Shirley Chosom putting peace signs up in front of a large crowd at the National Mall. She was against mobilizing the military against Vietnam and saw the Vietnam War as immoral. She made it her main issue while she was in Congress and also went to many protests against the Vietnam War. There was also an exhibit that had pins for her campaign as president. This captured my attention because even though racism was still a large issue in the 1970s, she stood up for what she thought was right and did not let others’ thoughts of her get in her way. Also, I…

In the “Flower Duet” scene where Cio-Cio-San is waiting for her husband to come home and she says “I shall stand there on the brow of the hill and wait, and wait a long time, and I shan’t find the long wait wearisome.” This highlights how naive Cio-Cio-San is because the audience and the other characters know that Pinkerton will not come back but she still has some faith that the marriage she is in will be fruitful. This characterizes Japanese people as people who during this time are unaware of what reality is truly like and people who are over optimistic. This also makes it seem people from the…

The visit to the New York Historical Society was very enjoyable as it allowed me to see more clearly what NYC was built on. I was also able to learn more about the people who made their art trying to bring old history to modern times to help people become more aware of the city’s past. One object that attracted my attention is the quote “We The People” made with different colored shoelaces. To start off, the quote is from the Constitution which is the document that helped create the U.S.. It helps highlight the fact that multiple different people were a part of the creation and it was not…

I plan to focus on the song “My Shot”. It dives into Hamilton’s history which is not commonly known. It is presented through song format allowing it to reach more people and help them realize that nothing is truly unreachable to them to achieve. It also highlights Hamilton’s ambition and desire to go beyond what people believe he can do. This helps people be more aware of the type of people that built America while also helping to inspire them to achieve their goals knowing that he had to work hard for his position in history books. Hamilton also shows that having people from different backgrounds helps make a show…

This billboard adds to the aesthetic of the High Line because it highlights the fact that America came to be because of people acting selfishly. America was found on accident and yet it was built on the suffering of others because the settlers only saw it as another way to get more money. They only worried about their own goals and are not afraid of ruining other people’s lives to achieve it. The High Line wouldn’t exist if the people who lived there did not stand up and defend their home from people who were only seeking profits wanted to demolish the old train tracks. The High Line is proof…

I can see a picture of a woman in a forest full of plants with a figure playing what looks like some sort of flute in the background. The first thing you see is the woman that is sitting in a chair then you see the lions creeping up on her. And then lastly, you can see the figure in the background playing that flute. This might be a representation of how people naturally want a peaceful place they can be themselves but this is not possible because there will always be a threat that wants ruin this peace
